Born in 1971 in Yeosu, a small port city in Korea, Jung Hunsung began painting in a studio at the age of ten. As an adult, he learned watercolor painting independently and has continued to work on his own ever since. Today, he is an artist who works exclusively with the watercolor medium.
His work seeks both empirical intuition and essential intuition. Because his subject is the human being, he believes that meaningful results can only be achieved through humility. By portraying people within the flowing history of water through watercolor pigments, his paintings become a mirror in which we see ourselves—offering multiple perspectives while sharing a common gaze.
